Who is Ivan Neill?

The Very. Rev Ivan Delacherois Neill,CB, OBE, MA was an eminent Anglican priest in the 20th century.

He was born into an ecclesiastical family on 10 July 1912 and educated at St Dunstan's College, Jesus College, Cambridge and the London College of Divinity. He was ordained in 1937 and began his career with curacies at St Mary, West Kensington and Christ Church, Crouch End. During the war he became a Chaplain to the Forces, rising in time to be its Chaplain-General. In 1966 he became Provost of Sheffield, a post he held until 1974.

An Honorary Chaplain to the Queen and a Knight Officer of the Order of Orange-Nassau he died on 18 June 2001.
