Who was Jackson Lawlor?
Hugh Jackson Lawlor was an Irish Anglican priest and author. He was Dean of St Patrick’s Cathedral, Dublin in the Church of Ireland in the first half of the 20th century.
He was educated at Drogheda Grammar School, Rathmines School, Dublin and Trinity College, Dublin. He was a Curate at Christ Church, Kingstown from 1885 to 1893 then an assistant to Archbishop King’s Lecturer in Divinity at the University of Dublin. He was Senior Chaplain of St Mary’s Cathedral, Edinburgh from 1893 to 1898 and then Professor of Ecclesiastical History at the University of Dublin. From 1924 until his retirement in 1933 he was also an Anglican Dean.
