Editor of "English Letters of the XVIII Century", published by Pelican Books in 1946 (nÂș A163).The back cover reads:"James Aitken was born in Glasgow, graduated at Glasgow University in 1890, and studied theology in Edinburgh, afterwards serving for more than 40 years in the Ministry of the Presbyterian Church in Scotland, South America, and New Zealand. He founded, and for 26 years edited the "Break of the Day", has had published a study of "The Book of Job", and while in New Zealand, did a considerable amount of journalistic work. He is very interested in education having taught for eight years. He is now retired and lives in Guildford."
