Who is James Brown Herreshoff?
James Brown Herreshoff was an American inventor and chemist who developed first internal-combustion coaphtha-driven motorcycles, invented coil-stream boiler, keels used on racing yachts, sliding seats on rowboats, mercurial anti-fouling paint, an apparatus for measuring heat of gases. Herreshoff belongs to a notable American family of Herreshoff family of chemists, boat designers and inventors. He was born in Bristol, Rhode Island and graduated from Brown University. He died at the age of 96 in Riverdale, New York.
