Who is James Creed?
Sir James Creed was an English merchant and politician.
Creed was a merchant of London and a director of the Honourable East India Company. He was in business in the manufacture of white lead, for which he obtained a patent in December 1749. He was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in February, 1743.
In 1754 Creed was elected Member of Parliament for Canterbury and held the seat to 1761.
Creed was buried at St Alphage, Greenwich where there is a marble monument in memory.
