Who is Jane Prentice?
Jane Prentice, an Australian federal politician, is a member of the Australian House of Representatives since August 2010, representing the seat of Ryan for the Liberal National Party of Queensland.
Prior to her election to Parliament, Prentice was a Councillor on the Liberal controlled Brisbane City Council, since 2000. Prentice has 25 years involvement with the tourism sector, principally the event and convention industry. At the 2010 federal election, Prentice comfortably defeated sitting local member, Michael Johnson, who was expelled from the Liberal Party in May 2010 for allegedly bringing the party into disrepute after finding he had used his political position and entitlements to further his business interests and that of a company set up almost exclusively to fund his prolific overseas travel.
