Who is Jared Heine?
Jared Heine is a Marshallese swimmer, who specialized in backstroke events. Although he was born in the United States, Heine holds a dual citizenship with the Marshall Islands.
Heine was one of the five athletes to represent Marshall Islands, for its official debut at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. He swam in the first heat of the men's 100 m backstroke event, against four other competitors from the Central Asia, Syria, and Bangladesh. He finished the race only in third place, with his personal record of 58.86 seconds. Heine, however, failed to advance into the semi-finals, as he placed forty-third in the overall rankings.
Heine is an information science graduate at the Florida State University in Tallahassee, Florida. He is also a member and senior coach of Kamehameha Swim Club in his hometown Honolulu.
