Who is Jay Shetty?

Indian broadcaster, storyteller, filmmaker, motivational speaker, and producer of viral content Jay Shetty was born in the United Kingdom. The internationally recognized monk-turned-social media influencer has collaborated with numerous major corporations and media outlets. Jay has always had an affinity for philosophical ideas and charitable endeavors. At the age of 16, a sad event changed the course of Jay's life. After graduating, he took up the monastic life and explored Europe and India. He subsequently started speaking about his time as a monk at colleges and businesses. Jay always sought to inspire people and help them understand the meaning of life. He received an invitation from the 'HuffPost' website to host one of their shows. Later, Jay launched his YouTube account and expanded his business internationally. He currently disseminates his ideas via YouTube and Facebook. Due to this, he has a sizable fan base.

Born in London, England on September 7, 1987, Jay is a British citizen of Indian ancestry. Although Jay was shy and introverted as a child, he had a good outlook on life. Since he was young, he has worked to be a positive influence on others around him.

Since Jay was an overweight nerd in school, he frequently faced bullying. But he never allowed that to have any kind of an impact on him. Jay showed a strong interest in figuring out who he was and what he wanted to do with his life during his adolescence. Unfortunately, his misadventures led to a couple school suspensions.

When Jay was 16 years old, a tragic event left a lasting impression on his thoughts. His desire to discover life's meaning and purpose gradually grew as a result of this. In a vehicle accident and gang violence, he lost two of his closest friends.

Jay earned a first-class BSc (Hons) in behavioral science from the London-based "Cass Business School." At the age of 22, Jay left his diploma behind and set out on a journey through Europe and India before becoming a monk. Earlier, Jay had the opportunity to interact with a monk who gave him the motivation to commit his life to helping others and making a positive impact on their lives. He was 18 at the time. He had then made the decision to forego the temptation of fame, wealth, and power in favor of a life free from gang violence.

After moving to India to live as a monk, he remained there for three years, assisting locals in creating sustainable settlements. He mentored a number of young people around the world about consciousness, well-being, and achievement while also volunteering for numerous food distribution initiatives. Jay shaved his head, traded in his designer clothes for pajamas, and moved into a locker at the gym. He would spend several hours each day in meditation. Jay tested many methods for surviving without food and liquids. He prepared his body and mind to handle challenging situations. Jay also picked up on the age-old art of managing one's respiration and thoughts.

As a monk, Jay learned the age-old Eastern theories and sciences. He would devote the first part of the day to his personal development and the second half to charitable endeavors.

Jay had no money and no job when he and his parents returned to London. He spent the following nine months there getting to know the society he had long ago left behind. His business school pals started inviting him to give presentations on internal wellness at their organizations.

Jay's professional life began as a motivational speaker. He began discussing his monastic life at universities and large corporations. He has spoken at "Google," "L'Oreal," "Facebook," "Coca-Cola," "HSBC," "EY," "Microsoft," "Accenture," and "Nasdaq." Jay chose to reach out to a larger audience and to those who couldn't see him in person after giving lectures at universities and corporate groups for a long. So, in September 2013, he started a YouTube channel with the same name. The channel features a number of inspirational movies that cover a range of topics in life and behavior. More than a million people subscribe to the channel.

At the 2015 "Guardian Rising Star Award" event, Jay took third place. Jay was invited to host the lifestyle section of the American news and opinion website "HuffPost" in New York in 2016 by renowned columnist and entrepreneur Arianna Huffington. He relocated to New York in September of that same year. He was appointed host of the daily "HuffPost Live" program "#FollowTheReader" and conducted interviews with a number of well-known figures, including Deepak Chopra, Tim Ferris, and Russell Simmons. Snapchat, Facebook, National Geographic, and Nasdaq are some of the other companies that Jay has collaborated with and produced content for.

The same year, Jay started his "Facebook" video channel, which has since gained over 19 million subscribers, making him one of the most popular social media stars in the entire globe. Additionally, he has a "Instagram" account with more than 2 million followers as of this writing. In 2016, Jay received the "ITV Asian Media Award" for "Best Blog," and in 2017, he was recognized for his outstanding work as a motivational social media influencer when he was included in the Forbes 30 Under 30 list.
