Who is Jeff Morris?
Jeffrey Robert Morris is an American politician of the Democratic Party. He is a member of the Washington House of Representatives, representing the 40th Legislative District. Morris, a member of the Tsimshian First Nations, is one of two self-identified American Indians, along with John McCoy who is a member of the Tulalip Tribes of Washington, in the Washington State Legislature.
Morris is a fourth-generation native of the Guemes Island. He was elected to the State House of Representatives in 1996 where he serves as the Chair of the Technology & Economic Development Committee and is also a member of the Environment and Transportation Committees. He has previously served as Speaker Pro tempore, House Floor Leader, and Chair of the Finance and Technology, Energy, & Communications Committees. Morris currently serves on the Executive Committee of the National Conference of State Legislatures and is the past Chair of the Council of State Governments-West and past President of the Pacific Northwest Economic Region.
