Who is Jessica Clark?
Jessica Clark is a U.S.-based author and researcher whose work focuses on media, culture and politics.
Clark directs the Future of Public Media project at American University's Center for Social Media. She organized the 2008 Beyond Broadcast conference, which examined new tools and directions for public media, and regularly presents at national conferences on media and public affairs. As a 2007 research fellow at the University of London's Centre for the Study of Children, Youth and Media, Clark worked on the CivicWeb project, which explores best practices in online civic engagement for young people across the European Union.
Clark worked at the progressive magazine In These Times from 2002–2009, in various capacities eventually holding the titles executive editor and then editor-at-large. Clark's articles also have appeared in such outlets as the San Francisco Chronicle, American Prospect, The Ottawa Citizen and South Africa’s "Wireless". Earlier in her career she held editorial and marketing positions at a range of cultural and educational institutions, including Britannica.com, the Library of Congress, and the American Association for the Advancement of Sciences. Clark received her BA in English and her MA in Social Sciences at the University of Chicago .
