Who was Johan Storm?

Johan Fredrik Breda Storm was a Norwegian linguist.

He was born in Lom, but grew up in Rendalen, Lardal and after his father's 1850 death in Christiania. He was a brother of historian Gustav Storm.

He was a professor of English and Roman philology at the University of Christiania for almost four decades, from 1873 to 1912. His work Norsk Retskrivning in two volumes was a contribution to the language disputes in Norway.

Storm was decorated Commander of the Royal Norwegian Order of St. Olav in 1904.
