Who was Johann Condné?
Johann Condné was a highly decorated Hauptmann in the Wehrmacht during World War II and a Brigadegeneral in the Bundeswehr. He was also a recipient of the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross. The Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross was awarded to recognise extreme battlefield bravery or successful military leadership. Johann Condné was captured by British troops in May 1945 and was released in January 1946. Johann Condné joined the Bundeswehr in 1955 and retired in 1979 as a Brigadegeneral.
