John Bauer

Who is John Bauer?

John Bauer was born in Port Elizabeth in the Eastern Cape, South Africa. At a young age he moved to Cape Town with his father and two siblings and spent his childhood in Newlands. After matriculating from Westerford High School he was encouraged by his Father to study but was unable to due to dyslexia. Determined to follow his first love, ceramics, he started pottery classes instead, later buying a house through his efforts. Over the years his entire house has become his studio with his bedroom being the only space not yet consumed by his passion.
