Who is John F. Kelly?

John Francis Kelly currently serves as Executive Director of the US Water Partnership, is a Scholar in Residence at the National Defense University, and is Co-Chair of the United States Institute of Peace Niger River Task Force, conducting academic research and curriculum building on the rule of law and democratic governance, and conflict mitigation over water resources. He served until 2013 as a professor of Security Studies and as the Associate Dean at the National Defense University's Africa Center for Strategic Studies. Dr. Kelly has been a university professor for 30 years, a Fulbright Scholar, a practicing lawyer and was a four-term Michigan State Senator. He ran for the US House of Representatives twice and was a candidate for the United States Senate in 1994. His experience in higher education, civil government and military science, and service in the United States Army as a Defense Attaché and a Judge Advocate General.
