Who is John Harrington?

John Harrington is an American photographer and author. Harrington wrote the manual Best Business Practices for Photographers, and provided the photography for three books by the Smithsonian Institution’s National Museum of the American Indian: Meet Naiche, Meet Mindy, and Meet Lydia.

Harrington graduated from Encinal High School in Alameda, California in 1985, and continued his studies at The Catholic University of America in Washington DC, graduating in 1990 with a B.A. in Political Science.

Harrington is a member of American Society of Media Photographers, Advertising Photographers of America, and President of the White House News Photographers Association.

Harrington began his photography as the photo editor of the college newspaper The Tower, and following graduation took a job as the Chief Photographer for The World & I magazine. After three years as a photojournalist, he left to continue his freelance career which would take him to Eastern Europe, Cuba, Alaska, Japan, and the White House. His photographs have appeared in publications such as Newsweek, Rolling Stone, and Time, and his commercial clients include Coca-Cola, XM Satellite Radio and Lockheed Martin.
