Who is John Housey?

John Joeseph Housey is a professional baseball pitcher. He was drafted in the 36th round of the 2009 Major League Baseball Draft by the Seattle Mariners. Previously, Housey was drafted in the 2006 Major League Baseball Draft by the Cincinnati Reds but did not sign.

Housey began his professional career with the Rookie-Level Peoria Mariners of the Arizona League in 2009. He went 3-1 with 32 strikeouts and a 2.96 ERA in six games, five starts. He was then transferred to the Rookie-Level Pulaski Mariners of the Appalachian League. In eight games, all starts with Pulaski, Housey went 3-2 with 47 strikeouts and a 2.62 ERA. In total, he went a combined 6-3 with 79 strikeouts and a 2.75 ERA in 72 innings pitched. He was third in ERA among Mariners' minor legauers and first in batting average allowed with opponents hitting just .198 against him. He was released by the Mariners and signed by the Dodgers in 2011. He spent most of the season with the Class-A Great Lakes Loons, finishing 1-2 with a 3.38 ERA in 14 games.
