Who was John Murphy?
John H. Murphy was an English footballer who played as an inside forward and right half for Notts County and Doncaster Rovers in the Football League at the turn of the 20th century. In the 1896–97 season, he was joint top scorer in the Football League Second Division with 22 goals.
