Who is John R. Bass?

John R. Bass is the Ambassador of the United States to Turkey. He was Ambassador of the United States to Georgia from 2009 to 2012.

Ambassador Bass is from upstate New York, and is a graduate of Syracuse University. He speaks Italian and French. In October 2012 he was appointed executive secretary of the State Department and will with the help of four deputies, serves as the liaison and the between the State Department's many bureaus and the leadership offices of the secretary, the deputy secretaries, and the undersecretary for policy. The executive secretary's office also manages relations between State and the White House, the NSC, and the other cabinet-level agencies.
