Who was Joseph M. Tierney?
Joseph M. Tierney was an American politician who served as a member of the Boston City Council from 1972 to 1987. He was the President of the City Council in 1977, 1979, 1983, 1984, and 1985. He was a candidate for Mayor of Boston in 1987, losing to incumbent Raymond Flynn 67%-33%.
His daughter is the actress Maura Tierney.
