Who was José María Coppinger?

José Coppinger was a prominent Spanish soldier of Cuban origin who served in the infantry of the Royal Spanish Army and governed Spanish East Florida between 1816 and 1821. He was a member of the Royal and Military Order of Saint Ferdinand and San Hermenegildo.
