1st Count of Sucena, born in Borralha, Agueda, Portugal. Leading businessman and benefactor of his generation who came to own the Palace of Seteiais, Sintra, and Palacio Foz in Lisbon, who had emigrated to Brazil aged 17 with nothing but an introduction to a local businessman in Rio de Janeiro.
