Jules Dingler
Male, Person
Who is Jules Dingler?
Following the resignation of Couvrier and Hersent, Jules Dingler was sent in to Panama and got things moving quite quickly. Hoverever in 1884, just as things appeared to be going well, tragedy struck the Dingler family. His daughter, Louise, died of yellow fever in January 1884. A month later Dingler's twenty-year-old son, Jules, died of the same disease. As if that weren't enough, the daughter's young fiance, who had come with the family from France, contracted the disease and died also. He returned to France in June on business and returned in October. Shortly after his return, his wife died and he left Panama for good.
