Who is Kilambi Ramanujachari?
Kilambi Ramanujachari, shortly K. Ramanujachari, was an Indian lawyer and administrator.
He was born in 1853 in Pentapadu Agraharam, British India. He has studied the Hindu epics and met the Maharajah of Vizianagram. He has impressed the Rajah immensely by performing Avadhanam. The Rajah sponsored his further studies in Presidency College, Madras. He has passed the S.S.L.C. and both the Bachelor and Master of Arts Examinations. He has completed the Bachelor of Law from Madras Law College.
He has worked as Vice-Principal and Principal of Maharajah's College, Vizianagaram. He served the institution for about 32 years from 1887 to 1920. The college has progressed rapidly under his leadership. He used to attend the Royal court and provide legal advice to the Maharajah. He has also worked as Principal of Maharajah's Sanskrit College for some time.
He married Alivelamma. They had 9 children, four sons and five daughters.
He was awarded the title of "Rao Bahadur" by the British Government in 1912. Andhra University awarded Honorary Doctorate to him in 1927.
