Who is King Xolotl?

Xolotl was a semi-legendary 13th century Chichimec leader. He was named after Aztec god Xolotl.

Chichimeca is the name that the Nahua peoples of Mexico generically applied to a wide range of semi-nomadic peoples who inhabited the north of Mexico and southwestern United States.

By some historiographic traditions Xolotl founded Tenayuca ca. 1224. Xolotl was succeeded by Nopaltzin who consolidated the Chichimec Kingdom. His daughter was Cuetlaxochitzin, Queen of Azcapotzalco, wife of the king Acolnahuacatl and mother of famous Tezozomoc.
