Who is Laurie Gant?
Lawrence "Laurie" Gant MBE born in Wakefield, West Riding of Yorkshire, was an English cobbler, and professional rugby league footballer of the 1940s, coach of the 1960s and '70s, and referee of the 1950s and '60s, playing at club level for Wakefield Trinity and Featherstone Rovers, and coaching at club level for Stanley Rangers ARLFC, and Featherstone Rovers. Laurie Gant was the president of St Michael's Cricket club and the Wakefield branch of the Royal British Legion.
