Who is Lucius Vibullius Rufus?

Lucius Vibullius Rufus sometimes known as Vibullius Rufus. was a Greek Aristocratic that lived in the second half of the 1st century and the first half of the 2nd century in the Roman Empire

Rufus was a Greek of Athenian descent. Although little is known on his origins, Rufus was a member of a very wealthy family who were prominent in Athens. Rufus had an ancestor called Lucius Vibullius Rufus, who served as an officer to triumvir Pompey in the civil war against Julius Caesar during the Roman Republic.

Rufus married an Athenian Aristocrat called Claudia Alcia. Claudia Alcia was the daughter of Aristocrat Hipparchus and sister of Roman Senator Tiberius Claudius Atticus Herodes.

Son, Lucius Vibullius Hipparchus who served as Archon of Athens in 99-100

Daughter, Vibullia Alcia Agrippina, who married her uncle Tiberius Claudius Atticus Herodes
