Who is Luis Diaz?

Luis Diaz is a former New York State Assembly member for the 86th district, first elected in 2002. He is a Democrat. He stood down at the 2008 elections.

Diaz was born Luis M. Díaz in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico. Prior to his election served as executive director of a Bronx social enterprise organization. He had also worked as an aide to Democratic Assemblyman Peter Rivera of the 76th.

In 2008, he resigned as New York State assemblyman to take a community affairs position in the administration of Gov. David A. Paterson.
