Who is Maranta?

Maranta is a four-piece band from Vallès Oriental (Barcelona) performing rock, reggae and ska music, who tries to bring an optimistic and vital message against all odds.

After an automatic chemistry between the band members, they started writing songs taking advantage of the common music background in each other. The result is a fusion music with a personal and unique style, Maranta’s style.

In 2015 Maranta released their debut album “Ordenando el ruido”, defined by its contemporary sound, mixing pop-rock with reggae, ska, hip-hop, R’n’B, samba and other styles, but always looking for coherence and innovation. Their songs are an original work full of energy, dynamism, poetry and good vibes and they prove it in their explosive live shows. Maranta’sprime pride resides in giving to their audience a repertoire they can enjoy due to its energy, poetry, and diversity.

Maranta has performed in multiple festivals and local celebrations (“Festa Major”) like: Festival Les Tres Torres (Barcelona), Festa Major de Granollers, Festival de Gallecs (Mollet), Festival La Petita (Sant Feliu de Llobregat), Sala 2046 (Granollers), Sala República del Ritmo (Cerdanyola del Vallès), Sala Duba (Mataró), Festa Major La Garriga, or Festa Major Torredarques, sharing stage with great artists such as Els Catarres, Lax n' Busto, Bongo Botrako, Itaca Band, Che Sudaka, D´callaos, and many more.

In 2016 they present their new project, "A Hora", an album that shows the evolution of the band toward a more intense fusion of rhythms.

Maranta takes its name from a plant that grows in the most adverse conditions in the Amazon jungle. This plant is still venerated by the natives of the area for its strength, stamina, and uniqueness. And THAT is Maranta’s spirit.
