Who is Marc Hamilton?
Marc Hamilton is Vice President of Solaris marketing at Sun
Microsystems where
he is responsible for managing both Sun's Solaris business and the
OpenSolaris community. Prior to starting his current role in 2007,
Hamilton ran Sun's global systems practice solutions organization
responsible for developing Sun's HPC, Web, and Data Center
Virtualization solutions. In that role he oversaw the development of
the fastest supercomputer in Asia, at Tokyo Institute of Technology,
and the first industry standard supercomputer designed to achieve over
1/2 Petaflop of performance at the Texas Advanced Computing Center
(TACC). Hamilton has held a variety of systems engineering and sales
role during his 14 years at Sun.Prior
to Sun, Hamilton worked at TRW developing HPC applications for the US
aerospace and defense industry including a 9000 cell parallel
processing engine. He has published a number of technical articles and
is the author of the book, "Software Development, Building Reliable
Systems". Mr. Hamilton holds a BS degree in Math and Computer Science
from UCLA, an MS degree in Electrical Engineering from USC, and is a
graduate of the UCLA Executive Management program.
