Who is Mario Martínez?
Mario Omar Martínez Mendoza is a professional baseball third baseman who is with the Boston Red Sox organization. Martínez was born in Barquisimeto, Lara State, Venezuela. He bats and throws throws and bats right-handed.
Martínez was signed on July 3, 2006 by Seattle Mariners scouts Bob Engle and Emilio Carrasquel. He attended Aquiles Nazoa high school in Venezuela.
Although Martínez has never appeared in a Major League Baseball game, he has played at multiple levels of minor league baseball. He started his professional career in 2007 at the age of 17. He was named by Baseball America as the 8th and 10th best prospect in the Mariners' organization in 2009 and 2010, respectively. Besides this, Baseball America included Martínez both in its Rookie All-Star team and the Northwest League post-season All-Star team.
