Who is Mark Jackson?

Mark Jackson is a Canadian musician and songwriter.

Jackson began his recording career in the summer of 1994 at the age of 17 by renting and borrowing as much equipment as he could lay his hands on. From those sessions Jackson manage to complete only 2 songs "Stranger" and "Life Blood". He released them on a cassette single on September 18, 1994 by forming his own Independent record label, named Artists and Poets Productions. At that time Jackson was releasing music under the pseudonym C’lan

Though not a big success, the single did give Mark enough momentum to keep writing and recording. Needing to work to provide an income to build his own recording studio, it took two and a half years before his first full length album was released. On February 23, 1997, Mark again using the alias C’lan released the eponymous 10 song album. Now referred to as C’lan 96 because of the year it was largely recorded.

Still performing very few live shows, the album struggled to find an audience and was never released outside of Canada. He returned to day work to self finance his next project. After four years, in June 2001, Jackson released a 13 track, all original album titled I Don’t Know Where To Start. The record was again released under Jackson’s stage name, C’lan. This marks the first time Jackson’s music was released internationally. Picking up speed, but still not performing before live audiences, it would be another 2 and a half years before the release of Jackson's next record.
