Who is Michael Abu Sakara Foster (Ph.D.)?

Michael Abu Sakara Foster, Ph.D. Agronomy (born Abu Sakara, 15th August 1958) is currently an Agri-business entrepreneur operating an integrated value chain for seed production, out-growers, and milling of rice, soya bean, and poultry feed in the Savannah region of Ghana. Before that he served for thirty years as a technocrat leading several country development programs in International Agriculture. and retired as the SAA-World Bank Liaison for Africa Desk. He is more popularly known in Ghana as Dr. Abu Sakara the politician, Presidential Candidate in 2012, and Vice Presidential Candidate in the 2008 elections on the ticket of the Convention People's Party. He is now an Independent political advocate for fundamental reforms to reset Ghana's faltering democracy and development process. Together with his colleagues and other CSOs, he has submitted a petition to Parliament for comprehensive reform of Ghana's 1992 Constitution. He is the Founder, of the National Interest Movement forum that promotes reforms to shift Ghana's paradigm for development towards a more responsive, inclusive, accountable, and empowering democracy. Dr. Abu Sakara is a renowned independent commentator on national economic, social, and political issues, especially those about agriculture and its impact on the strategic development of the national economy.
