Who is Michael Pineda?
Michael Francisco Pineda Paulino is a Dominican professional baseball pitcher for the New York Yankees of Major League Baseball. He signed as an international free agent with the Seattle Mariners in 2005, and made his MLB debut for the Mariners in 2011. In his rookie season, Pineda was named an All-Star and finished fifth in balloting for American League Rookie of the Year. After his rookie season, he was traded to the Yankees.
Pineda is listed at 6 feet 7 inches and 260 pounds. His fastball in 2011 averaged 94.7 miles per hour, which was the highest among MLB rookies with at least 100 innings pitched, and fourth overall in MLB.
