Who is Mirza Muhammad Malik Kalimuddin?

Malik III, born between the years 1710-1712, stood at the crossroads of Mughal history, inheriting a lineage that traced back through noble roots. The only son of Shahzada Farkhunda Akhtar Wal Malik II, he held the esteemed position of being the grandson of Mirza Khujaista Akhtar Jahan Shah and the great-grandson of Shah Alam I, a once-mighty Mughal emperor. His birthplace, Muzung Chungi, resonated with historical significance as the very city where his grandfather Jahan Shah and father met their untimely ends. Born into a turbulent era, Malik III's life unfolded under the shadow of the Mughal Empire, during the reign of Jahandar Shah. Unfortunately, the records of his existence were purportedly erased during this time, leaving a veil of mystery around his identity. Yet, the oral traditions passed down through his grandfather and father served as the torchbearers of Malik III's character and legacy. A merchant and nobleman, he navigated the complexities of Mughal rule, establishing a fine trading skill that would become the bedrock for his descendants. Fathering as many as 5 sons, Malik III laid the foundation for a broad lineage that burgeoned into what is now recognized as the esteemed Malik Family. His pioneering efforts in trading, particularly in agriculture, became the hallmark of the Malik legacy during the British Raj and post the partition of the Indian subcontinent. Despite the obscurity surrounding his final resting place, it is believed that Malik III breathed his last in Lahore around the years 1773-1780s, leaving behind a legacy that continues to thrive through the enduring tales of the Malik Family.
