Who is Musa Ghazi?
Musa Ghazi Urdu: موسیٰ غازی was a veteran Pakistani footballer who represented and captained the Pakistan national football team during the 1960s. Ghazi played for the Mohammedan Sporting Club in the 1940s. Following the 1947 partition of India, he migrated with his family to Pakistan. A left winger by skill, he was offered Indian nationality in the 1950s although opted to stay in Pakistan.
Under his leadership, the Pakistani football team was able to achieve the top three Asian rankings in the late 1950s and 1960s, a far cry from its current 50th rankings among Asia's 60 teams. His brother Abid Ghazi is also a retired player and football fan.
Ghazi died on May 12, 2003, at the age of 75.
