Who is Nalini Ambady?

Nalini Ambady is a social psychologist. She is a Professor at Stanford University in the Department of Psychology. She earned her Ph.D. in social psychology from Harvard University in 1991 under the guidance or Robert Rosenthal, with whom she researched thin slice judgments. She is a leading expert on nonverbal behavior and interpersonal perception. Dr. Ambady is a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the American Psychological Association, and the Association for Psychological Science. She won the AAAS Prize for Behavioral Science Research in 1993.

In 2012, her leukemia, which had gone into remission in 2004, returned. Her plight has sparked a global effort to increase participation in bone marrow registries among South Asian ethnic groups.
