Who is Neil Malhotra?

Professor Malhotra’s research interests include political psychology, legislative politics, and survey methodology. Among other topics, he has written on responsibility attribution following government failure, the relationship between legislative institutions and public finance, optimal methods for designing and analyzing surveys, and publication bias in the social sciences. Among other topics, he is currently studying the influence of risk perceptions on political attitudes, voting behavior in presidential primaries, and leadership selection in the U.S. Congress.

Neil Malhotra is an Assistant Professor of Political Economy at the Stanford Graduate School of Business, where he teaches courses on Ethics and Management and Nonmarket Strategy. He also holds a courtesy appointment in the Department of Political Science. His research has been published in journals across the social sciences, including the American Political Science Review and The Journal of Politics. He has received awards from the American Political Science Association, the Midwest Political Science Association, and the American Association of Public Opinion Research (Pacific Chapter). Neil received his PhD in Political Science from Stanford University, where he was the Melvin & Joan Lane Graduate Fellow. He also holds a BA in Economics from Yale University, where he graduated summa cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa, and with distinction in the major. He has previously held positions at Goldman, Sachs & Co., Citigroup, and A.T. Kearney.
