Who is Olivia Aya Nakitanda?

Olivia Aya Nakitanda is a Ugandan swimmer, who specialized in sprint freestyle events. Nakitanda represented Uganda at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, where she swam in the women's 50 m freestyle event. She won the third heat by approximately five eighths of a second, ahead of Botswana's Samantha Paxinos, with an impressive time of 29.38 seconds. Nakitanda, however, failed to advance into the semi-finals, as she placed sixty-sixth out of ninety-two swimmers in the overall rankings.

Nakitanda is a graduate of medicine at Makerere University in Kampala.
