Who is Perry Dissmore?
Perry Dissmore is an American Assemblies of God pastor in Hartford, Illinois and current holder of the Guinness World Record for basketball free throws in an hour. Dissmore appeared live on television on September 14, 2010 on the Regis and Kelly show, where he broke his own record of 1,926 free throws set in October 2009 by successfully sinking 1,968 free throws from the foul line in one hour. The record required Dissmore to successfully score 33 free throws a minute, which is about one free throw per two seconds.
Originally from Bloomer, Wisconsin, Dissmore played basketball at Bloomer High School. In 1993, when playing for North Central University in Minneapolis, MN, Dissmore was an NCCAA Div II All-American. Dissmore was originally inspired to break the world record in an effort to raise funds for the Boys and Girls Missionary Crusade, a children's outreach of the General Council of the Assemblies of God, with whom Dissmore is an ordained minister.
