Who is Peter Bowman?
Peter 'Pete' B. Bowman is an American politician from Maine. Bowman served as a Democratic State Senator from Maine's 1st District, representing part of York County, including his residence in Kittery. He was first elected to the Maine Senate in 2006 after incumbent Republican Mary Andrews did not seek re-election. He has also served on the Kittery School Committee.
Bowman graduated from Cornell University in 1960 and earned a dual M.S. and M.B.A. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1973. He then spent 30 years serving in the Navy and was a three-term commander of the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, which he cited as making him a more effective legislator. He was replaced in 2010 by fellow Democrat Dawn Hill.
