Who is Peter Gelle?
Peter Gelle is a Slovak sprint canoer who has competed since the late 2000s. He won a silver medal in the K-1 500 m at the 2010 ICF Canoe Sprint World Championships in Poznań. Péter was born in Párkány and is a member of ethnic Hungarian community in Slovakia. The area was transferred to a newly formed Czechoslovakia following the Treaty of Trianon in which Hungary lost 2/3 of its territory and created a large Hungarian ethnic minority in Slovakia and the newly formed countries that border present-day Hungary.
