Who is Peter L. Rypdal?

Peter Larsson Rypdal was a Norwegian fiddler and famous traditional fork music composer. He was inspired by Sigbjørn Bernhoft Osa, and has many musician descendants like his grandchildren, the siblings Jorun Marie Kvernberg and Ola Kvernberg.

Rypdal composed many great tunes, and two of his wedding marches is still used widely in Norway. In addition to folk music, he had a great interest in classical music, and this interest he shared with his good friend Henry Vike, which he composed the wedding march "A Summer Wedding" to. Along with musically interested friends he was in volved in forming a separate Symphony Orchestra of Tresfjord and Vestnes. He already had a string quartet going for many years, which was a popular entertainment performances at many events, and was also a founding member of "Romsdal spelemannslag".

Rypdal got to meet with Sigbjørn Bernhoft Osa several times when Osa was on tour in the area and used the opportunity to learn tunes from Peter and Rypdal was often onn Osa's concert repertoire.
