Who is Peter Malinauskas?
Peter Malinauskas is a South Australian union official and an influential figure in the Australian Labor Party, the country's largest political party. Malinauskas is the Secretary of the South Australian branch of the Shop, Distributive and Allied Employees' Association, Australia's largest union, and a major player in the Labor Unity faction of the South Australian branch of the Australian Labor Party.
In August 2011, the Australia media claimed Malinauskas as being the "faceless man" who told Mike Rann he had lost the support of his party and to step down as Premier of South Australia to make room for Jay Weatherill.
Malinauskas is putting forth a motion at the next Labor conference to ban unions and big business from bankrolling political campaigns.
