Who is Pierre Henri?
Pierre Henri is a French swimmer, who specialized in individual medley events. He collected a silver medal in the 400 m individual medley at the 2001 European Junior Championships in Valletta, Malta. Henri is a member of Club Natation Canet 66 in Canet-en-Roussillon, and is coached and trained by Philippe Lucas.
Henri qualified for the men's 400 m individual medley at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing by clearing a FINA A-standard entry time of 4:18.23 from the Olympic trials in Dunkirk. He challenged seven other swimmers on the fifth and final heat, including U.S. swimmer and defending Olympic champion Michael Phelps. Henri edged out Greece's Romanos Alyfantis to round out the field in seventh place by exactly a single second, in a time of 4:22.41. Henri failed to advance into the final, as he placed twenty-second overall on the first day of the swimming preliminaries.
