Péter Hédervári

Who was Péter Hédervári?

b. Budapest, 29 April 1931 to Edith Willmann and Karoly Hoffman

d. Budapest, 27 June 1984

Geophysicist, scientific popularizer, amateur astronomer and member of several national and international scientific societies. Received doctorate at Eötvös Loránd University, Budapest. On staff of the Eötvös Loránd Geophysical Institute. From 1968 on, a columnist with the weekly magazine Élet és Tudomány.

His special field of interest was the geology of the moon and earth-like planets. His articles on these subjects appeared in the Fizikai Szemle, Magyar Fizikai Folyóirat, Földrajzi Közlemények, and Földtani Közlöny. Several foreign journals also published his articles. In addition, one of his most important contributions to the general understanding of the sciences were his popular articles and books.
