Who was Robert E. Lee?

Robert E. Lee was a Commissioner of the Federal Communications Commission from October 6, 1953 to June 30, 1981. He served as Interim Chairman of the FCC from February 5, 1981 to April 12, 1981, and as Chairman from April 13, 1981 to May 18, 1981. He had three children, Patricia Lee, Robert Edward Lee, and Michael Lee.

He was appointed by President Eisenhower in 1953 and served nearly 28 years as commissioner.

His papers were donated by his widow to the Dwight D. Eisenhower Library in 1998.
