Who is Robert Ray?
Robert William Ray is an American lawyer. As the successor to Ken Starr as the head of the Office of the Independent Counsel he investigated and issued the final reports on the Whitewater scandal, the White House travel office controversy, and the White House FBI files controversy. Before that he was Deputy Independent Counsel investigating former Secretary of Agriculture Mike Espy and before that Assistant United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York.

Under independent counsel Donald Smaltz head prosecuted Mike Espy, and then worked for Ken Starr.
He was an unsuccessful candidate for a non-partisan school board in Brooklyn, New York 1993 and 1996, on the "children's slate". He was briefly a candidate in the United States Senate elections, 2002 in New Jersey.
He is the father of three children.
As of 2013 he is in private practice, a partner at Fox Rothschild LLP.
