Who is Sasha Soreff?

Sasha Soreff, a New York City choreographer-dancer, is the Creative Director of the Sasha Soreff Dance Theater and a member of the Dance New Amsterdam faculty where she teaches modern dance. Born in Maine, she received her Bachelors of Arts degree summa cum laude from Barnard College in 1994. While at Barnard she was selected to the Centennial Scholar Program and inducted into Phi Beta Kappa. She received her high school diploma from the North Carolina School of the Arts.

Soreff's works "The Dancer Who Wore Sneakers and Other Tales" and its sequel "The Other Shoe" have been performed at the Ailey Citigroup Theater and are currently at Soundance. She choreographed for Dance Parade with the 60x60 project at Tompkins Square Park as well as 60x60 project's 60x60 Dance at the World Financial Center Winter Garden Atrium, and Galapagos Art Space in Brooklyn, New York. Her choreography was featured on WNET’s MetroArts, on the American Living Room Series at HERE, at ArcLight Theatre, at Portland, Maine's Casco Bay Movers Theater, at Long Island University, the 92nd Street Y, P.S. 122, White Wave, Dance Space Center, One Arm Red, Portland Dances!
