Who is Sisilia Talagi?

Sisilia Talagi is a Niuean diplomat who served as the former High Commissioner of Niue to New Zealand. She held the post of High Commissioner from 2005 until 2011. Talagi is Niue's female diplomat and first woman to hold the post of High Commissioner.

Talagi is a former secretary for the Niuean government. She was first appointed High Commissioner to New Zealand, based in Wellington, in 2005. In November 2008, Niue Public Service Commission confirmed her reappointment to a second term as Niue's High Commissioner to New Zealand. She reportedly competed against six other candidates from New Zealand and Niue for the position.

Talagi was succeeded as High Commissioner to New Zealand in March 2011 by O'Love Jacobsen, a former Cabinet minister.

New Zealand is the only country in the world in which Niue exchanges diplomatic representatives.
