Who is Stef Blok?
Stephanus Abraham "Stef" Blok is a Dutch politician of the People's Party for Freedom and Democracy. Since November 5, 2012 he has been a minister without portfolio in the second Rutte cabinet, dealing with housing and civil service.
Previously he was an MP from August 1998 to November 2012. He served as the Parliamentary leader in the House of Representatives from October 14, 2010 until September 13, 2012.
Blok was born in Emmeloord in the Netherlands Province of Flevoland. After attending Stedelijk Gymnasium Leiden he studied Administration of business at the University of Groningen from 1977 until 1983. He worked for ABN AMRO from 1989 until 1998 when he was elected as a member of the House of Representatives for the People's Party for Freedom and Democracy for which he has been a member since 1988.
He was a member of the municipal council of Nieuwkoop from 1994 to 1998.
